Hello! Been some time since I’ve found the time to blog. Asides of that is the part where there’s really nothing interesting to blog about. OK I’m kidding. I wanted to write about K. Mini rant in it though that’ll be in another post. For now, let’s talk about Daiso again ok? Now, who doesn’t know Daiso? To us in Malaysia, Daiso is something like the dollar store in the states. Daiso is amazing. They sell stuff from Japanese snacks to storage boxes, stationery and of course, even makeup. Whats better? Everything’s sold for RM5. Yes, even smudge proof liquid liners like the one I’ll be reviewing in this post and even nude eye shadows that I’ve reviewed HERE!
So as I was saying, the other day I went shopping and of course Daiso is like kawaii paradise ok. Each time I enter the store, the makeup section is the first section to greet me. Their false lashes are always screaming at me but I had to tolerate seeing that I still have close to 30 pairs of unused false lashes from china. Well I’ve heard relatively good reviews on Daiso’s eyeliners but you could say I’ve never really gotten around to trying them out. I admit, part of me is actually quite scared to try it but this time I went for it! At the same time, I’ve also bought myself one of their lipsticks to try out.
So first, let’s talk about their ‘ Ellefar Eye Water Resistant Eye Liner’ shall we?

From the picture above, you’d be able to see how the front of it looks like. (I know I know. I totally forgot to snap a pic after removing the packaging, I’m sorry haha)

I can’t read japanese but from what I can tell its at least waterproof and sweat-proof. Which is probably the disappointing bit of this review seeing that it isn’t at all waterproof.

Here’s how the tip looks

Some scribbles to test it out. I know how much product the brush pulled out so I actually did wipe some product on the inner-sides of the bottle before trying it out on my wrist. You see the circled line in the pic above? That was the first line I drew before I went all picasso-mode. And I took the pic about 2 minutes later yet it’s still wet. The other scribbles are dried though.

pretty much shows how fine of a line the brush can accomplish.

I actually tested the water resistant test again. This time running it under the tap. The first time I’ve used the liner on my wrist, I actually spilled just a little drop of water on it and it smudged.

Surprisingly after I’ve had a semi strong current of water hitting it, the liners still look perfect.

but instantly became like this when I very SUPER lightly ran a finger over it.
So if you’re planning to wear this liner into the pool, please don’t la ok.

Now I have to be honest, besides of water resistance level, smudge proof level and how fast the liner dries, what I’m utmost concern is the ease of application. Now I have to clarify, in my 5 years of having the privilege of using makeup, I’ve never used any liquid liner in this shape. I know quite a number of brands that has released liquid liner in this form but I’ve only used the pen types from Empro and K-Palette. Yeah I know, I don’t really venture out for liners, I’ve started out with Empro ones since my mom uses that brand and honestly, I didn’t want to spend on eyeliners la ok. That was until I found my holy grail K-Palette 1 day tattoo. Ok ok those aside, from what you could see on the pic above, I clearly had no control on the first attempt. It was so funny that I just wanted to post it up to remind myself and people out there that I too have flaws ok. I’m not some professional, makeup to me is really like NDS or PSP to you guys ok. haha
but don’t get me wrong. The tip is surprisingly VERY easy to achieve a good winged liner. I’m not even lying.

see? Ok ok. I admit. Still kinda ‘cacat’ but still can accept la, no? Second attempt and I’m pretty sure those that knows me for ages is aware of how much I used to hate liquid liners. They’re tough to use, they take forever to dry and smudges the moment you open your eyes!! But here’s the fun fact, even though this liner took quite some time to dry on my lids, it DID NOT transfer to above my double eyelid fold. VERY magical. I don’t know if its just me or its really magic, if you’ve tried the liner and had the same magical experience, do tell me in the comments!

What I like is how easy it is to achieve a decent wing and also how black the liner is. This was one stroke, meaning I didn’t need to go over it. Something I actually have to do so for my K-palette 1 day tattoo liners.
- Packaging & Brush Applicator -
Won’t dwell much into this, if you’ve already mastered eyeliners with their applicators like this, you’re good to go. If not, some practice won’t hurt. Then again, the practice is quite worth it seeing the price is good and the applicator is actually quite easy to work with, the tip wasn’t as bendy as I imagined it to be but instead quite firm.
- Price -
RM5 for a smudge proof eyeliner. WHY NOT?
- Water resistance -
This is a huge disappointment, really. If it didn’t pass the running tap water, I can somewhat understand, but since it didn’t survive just one drop of water rolling down it, cannot lo. Especially for people like me that yawns 1234568 times a day. Do you know how much tears I shed? The disappointing part isn’t the part where its not waterproof but instead the part where its the supposedly sell point.
- Smudge proof -
They should have advertised smudge proof instead. From rubbing it lightly to literally rubbing it down hard only to rub of that faint amount of product. This is a plus point for it. Of course, only rub it when its dried la.
- Ease of application -
Because I managed to get it right the 2nd & 3rd & 4th time, it deserves an 8 because, really…I used to be really really bad at liquid liners. Its a joke how I manage to joker-fy myself.
- Speed of drying -
Too slow for me. Really. This is the only thing besides the water resistance part that I can’t really accept haha.

herro!

Next up, here’s the lipstick I got from Daiso! In the colour ‘J’ ! Yes, I’m not sure what series this lipstick is from but the colour is ‘J’ ok? ._.
From the sticker, I’ve half expected the colour to be a deep hot pink colour. Don’t worry, although the lipstick looks like an orangey red. It’s more of a pink-red tone. Another thing is, this is actually a sheer lipstick with quite an amount of glitter in it. I don’t have much to say on this but this is a really nice lipstick to just spice up your dull bare face before heading out.

Some swatches. See how glittery it is?

on lips up close.

The lipstick, although its just a simple sheer lipstick, I have to admit, from photos, it does give off that glossy finish but don’t worry, it doesn’t feel glossy over the lips. Just that if I were to wear this out, I’d definitely need to blot tissue over it first. I pretty much just can’t stand all that lipstick on my lips. It’s a personal thing, really. Oh and I’ve nearly forgot to mention, a downside of this lipstick is that it does stain rather quickly. Since the color matches my own lips rather well, I can’t really tell on my lips but after having the swatch on my wrist for 20 minutes or so, it did stain seeing I couldn’t get all the lipstick off my wrist with makeup wipes rubbing it roughly.

8/10
I’d say its ok. Grey’s a nice colour, though it’ll be great if the colour on the label matched the actual lipstick colour better.
- Price -
no comment. Very good. 10/10 !
- Colour -
9/10
Its a nice pinkish-red colour with very settled glitter to give the lips the extra oomph so its actually pretty good!
- Texture -
9/10
I wouldn’t say its dry, though I’m actually surprised that probably because its a more sheer lipstick, which is why it didn’t exaggerate all the fine lines on my lips! So I really like that point. It isn’t too stick nor is it too dry. I’d say just alright since I was adventurous and applied the lipstick to my lips without my usual lip balm beneath it. So thumbsup!

Where to buy?
I got mine at Daiso New Wing, 1 Utama buy I’m sure you could find them at most Daiso outlets in Malaysia!
Would I repurchase?
The eyeliner : Perhaps? I’ll have to try having it on my lids and yawn a couple of times to see if it melts off or not. For the price, probably, then again…for it to take so long to dry is definitely not my cup of tea. So….maybe..maybe not. I’m undecided!
The lipstick: Sure, why not? Definitely!
Have you tried out any Daiso cosmetics? Any products that you love and would like me to try out? Or simply any daiso cosmetics product that you’d like me to try? Leave me a comment below and I’ll go try it out some day!
