Alice Nine Supernova Symphonia tour in Kuala Lumpur: a memorable night

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear I’ve been meaning to blog about this since 290614, but I don’t know why I ended up typing the title then decided that I might as well close the browser > go onto my phone > fangirl together with all the other NUMBER SIXES suffering from post concert syndrome on facebook. Before I start writing, I’m here to clarify that this post is solely for my own pleasure and not some live report. Don’t expect me writing like some pro journalist, you want to read those…well…this might help you. Ok la, I’ll list a few links below that you guys can check out. (some official media write up that are 80% accurate.)

I’m officially naming that night, Arisu Night. ya. 290614 is officially Arisu night for me. Or day…seeing that I started queuing at 11.30+ a.m.

Ever since young, I had big dreams and small dreams. I can picture myself having fun at concerts with a glow stick. It’s a goal that had been stuck with me for years and everyone finds that goal ridiculous while some find it outrageous. I know how common it is for people to go for lives and concerts, my friends are constantly checking in at bukit jalil stadium for KPOP concerts/western pop concerts ok? Even though I don’t show it, I do in fact envy those people. I envy the fact that they can attend a concert with a glow stick . It’s actually quite weird because I’ve never really liked any artists to the extend where I know 90% of their entire discography until the recent years. (thus not giving me a reason to attend any lives) Recent years as in ever since I’ve came across the GazettE. I use to worship the band like god hahaha, no I don’t have a shrine for them.

Anyways, after listening to the GazettE for a year, met other fans, talked to them, and found out that they don’t exactly tour overseas, well more like Japanese rock bands in general rarely tour overseas, all my hopes were crashed. I literally developed a new goal which was that my first live experience would be a GazettE live in Japan. Slashed that out the moment Alice Nine announced Kuala Lumpur as a stop in their Asia tour heh.

So…

Attending a concert with a glow stick { x }

First concert being a GazettE live { }

Attending an Alice Nine live { x }

I would say, the experience was amazing. It was surreal. I yolo-ed my day. I went to a live alone and met up with new friends that I’ve met over an fb group for A9 malaysian fans that I’ve only known for three-four months before the live. Before then, I was pretty much a loner, I only knew a handful of JRock fans that I hardly even have the chance to meet, I mainly hold conversations with fans from overseas. To be honest, I kinda miss those overseas friends from Sg, Vietnam, JP, Indonesia and US. When I focused back on anime & school, I’ve neglected Jrock(tumblr & twitter) and when everyone changed their tumblr names and twitter names, I have no idea who’s who anymore haha.(then later on my twitter got hacked so I had to start again haih) I still meet up with Ducky every time I visit SG though! Need to meet up with Miyuki and Sabreena next time too!

OK so let’s see….

I reached the venue at approximately 11.30 and I recognized everyone based on their profile pic and the huge white cloth that all the ladies were busy designing. Ok la, I didn’t recognize half of the people from their fb pics. But hey, meet new friends ok! Then I found out that I was the youngest there, it’s ok. I’m totally used to being the youngest among all my friends I’ve met from JROCK fandoms. It’s totally cool. All the jie jie and kor kors so nice. Mainly jie jies la, there were only two korkors I know that night haha. But both are really nice people too! We had small conversations while getting to know each other, blasted some a9 songs while designing our ridiculously hilarious banner. To sum things up, it was really fun. I expected myself to be very awkward and stuff because it was like my first time meeting everyone. But no la, everyone was really nice and I managed to survive my first concert, with it being a rock one and surprisingly my current favorite band (ever since I got my hands on Daybreak, before Daybreak was out, it was still GazettE GazettE GazettE)

Even though I’m aware of how small the Jrock fanbase in Malaysia is, it was still a shock for me to see how short the queue was. I’ve never been to a concert before this but the sole fact that the entire live is a free standing live already gave me the impression that there’ll be a fairly long queue. I mean, I believed that SG fans started queuing at 5 a.m. so I was quite shocked la. The queue didn’t even grow at 2pm. But it’s ok, time actually flew by quite fast. While we were designing the banner, Kamiyama-san (the official videographer for this tour) came over to interview a few of the fans and we were very cute la, I mean, I’ve lost count of the times we gave a peace sign to a dslr and then the videographer tells us its a video. At first I even thought Kamiyama-san was one of the fans and wanted to take a photo of us designing the banner, turns out that he’s the official videographer, so paiseh. Nearly voiced who’s friend is this hahaha.

Later on, I can’t remember at what time, but we managed to see Nao, Tora, Saga and Hiroto up close, looking all fab getting off their ride and entering the hall. I died a little inside and it was hilarious how they shut the door without Shou coming out of it and everyone was literally like EH? EH?! NANIIIII?! EHHHH?! When the band started rehearsals, all of us crazy fans camping outside the door were screaming already. I mean, we need to show them our love for their music. ESPECIALLY when you recognize that song and you’re fangirling internally going all ‘oh my god, SENKOU!!’ No pics, but I had video footage o 3 o I’m sure you’ll be able to find the footage online though. psst, try instagram & youtube!

At approximately 3.40 pm we started queuing for tour goods and collecting our tickets. I didn’t know where to queue first. Had to collect my ticket from Toybox and also buy goods. How was I suppose to split myself into two? End up the two fanboys help me queue for good first while I go get my ticket >< I wasn’t happy with the tour goods sold. Literally almost every thing I wanted was sold out. I can relate though, SG fans really sapu everything very fast haha but it’s ok, if I really want to, I can just order the shirts and ring light online. I originally had a very very VERY tough time debating between Shou’s shirt or the SUPERNOVA BLACK TEE. I ended up bringing enough for both just in case I can’t make up my mind and decided to compulsive buy. If I regret, just put online and sell la. Always my theory, buy first, regret later. Not advisable, but meh. Turns out neither were available so I ended up getting the galaxy light, chazuke and muffler.

all the sold out goods! Very disappointing but the amazing live experience made up for everything. We actually found out about the sold out goods way before sales started so when we were queuing, most of us were already busy thinking what else to buy.

tickets from Toybox front and back.

oh before I forget, another goal from my list.

Own any Alice Nine merch{ x }

It’s depressing how I still don’t own any black moral goods haha. But I really did not expect myself to finally own an a9 merch by buying it directly from their one man live instead of ordering via a third party and shipping it to my house.

After everyone got their goods we went back to queue and I put on my contacts out in public. With a ridiculously small mirror. Sorry Wisely, mafan you to hold it /.\ Toilets are situated inside the hall but we’re not allowed in anymore since Alice Nine’s inside having their rehearsals. Then we walked to KFC at around 5.15-ish. I had croissant in my bag which I left together with the other fans so I didn’t eat at KFC. Literally went there just to use the toilet. I don’t want to risk having the need to use the washroom halfway through the live. And you don’t even know how glad I was that I went to the washroom before the live, I was literally packed into a sardine can inside the hall that I don’t even know how would I be able to leave my spot for the toilet in the middle of the live.

The doors opened at 7.40-ish. I didn’t notice what time the live start but my phone was on silent the moment I entered the hall, not like I’ll be able to hear it ring, but imagine it ringing during a song like Shooting Star, you don’t want to be glared at right? The moment I entered the hall, I rushed towards the spot between Shou and Hiroto, front row summore. Two bias standing near each other was a plus point. Addition to that is the fact that apparently the fans over our side are crazier.

First time attending a live, the live being my current favorite band and getting front row spot. What more can I possibly ask for? The first thing that came into my mind was, ‘wah, so this is how front row feels like.’ and I instantly remember my family used to say “crazy” when they see all the happy front row fans at those lives being broadcasted on TV. Funny feeling, oh well.

Video recording / photography / food & drinks weren’t allowed but it’s ok. I mean, when you’re so busy taking in the sight of your idols just 3(?) meters away from you, trying to make as much eye contact with them as possible, singing along to all the new songs and getting hyped up over the classics, then of course, headbanging, you won’t remember to snap photos ok. You won’t even want to risk taking your phone out and when someone pushes you, you drop the phone right over the barricade and have the security guard take your phone away, nu-uh.

Well we waited quite some time for the band to come out, not that long but it’ll be cool if they showed the band’s past PVs or something, way better than advertisements of future concerts held in that live house hehe ^^”

The live started with -prelude resolution- playing in the background (I love this track from the album a lot ok so I had to make a point haha) as the members took on the stage one by one. I cannot remember who came out first la, probably Nao. I ASSUME. I cannot remember, really, sorry. I won’t be talking much about the live, really just wanted to write down this memorable night for my self reference in the future. I want to grow up and look back at this and be like, ‘wao, I’ve sure liked a band for many years.’

When SHINING started playing, all of us were already jumping. Actually throughout the entire live, we were all mainly jumping and shouting and singing and simply enjoying ourselves to the fullest! When SEVEN started playing, Shou took his muffler towel and spun it in the air so we followed along. This scene gave me a flashback when I remembered watching ViViD’s Kousai Genesis live, I remember the whole crowd spinning their yellow muffler towels then I told myself, “I want to do that someday too! But what if someone else’s towel smacks me?!” Everyone very professional, no one’s towel hit me lol. Also, when I see people headbanging in lives, I’ve also tend to ask myself, “won’t people bang their heads together?!” apparently no, it’s crazy how I can headbang with everyone over the barricade without having anyone bumping onto my head. But I literally looked like sadako after I stopped headbanging la.

Later on it was Haikara Naru Rinbu Kyoku, fun song, I enjoyed shouting all the members’ names, it was really fun and the tune of the song was just simply fun! Next up was Hana! I actually cannot believe it, I was having so much fun, so engrossed with what’s happening, dancing, jumping, singing (I actually sang throughout the entire live), I didn’t notice that Hana was played haha. It was however, quite disappointing that Kiss Twice, Kiss me deadly wasn’t played, I mean, Hana is a great song, I use to play it 1248237 times a day and I cannot remember the amount of times I’ve watched the pv. After Hana was KID. I believe that KID is my utmost favorite track from their Supernova album. The guitar solo is just, hands down, perfect. If they did not play KID, I swear I would cry. When KID ended, I wanted another round of KID. I know but sorry, I can never get enough of Hiroto’s solo. OK, when KID ended, up next was Kowloon. At first I didn’t expect Kowloon to be played. I thought only their HK live would have Kowloon, no, I don’t remember the SG setlist or any of the past asia tours’ setlist. So when Kowloon played, I know, my neck can break liao. Kowloon’s like one of their ultimate headbang songs. I like. Oh and, I didn’t know that barricades were that strong until I attended this live. Everyone can stand on the barricade and headbang forward, sure the barricade moved, but it didn’t topple down! So strong weih! (sorry la, I’m like some kampung mui first time going concert so albeit culture shock) I also didn’t expect the barricade to be this tall, since from the GazettE’s live dvds I’ve watched, the fans can literally have the upper half of their body over the barricade and I can only have my head over it WHEN I’M ALREADY STANDING ON THE BARRICADE. That night, I learned that it kinda sucks to be short.

After kowloon was MC part.

After the MC part ended, メビウス was up! I admit, I’ve never really listened to this song before the live but I know it well enough to be able to sing-a-long. It was also a really fun song to somewhat dance too. The song just gives you a very happy feel. When メビウス ended, Shooting star started playing! Beautiful song, nuff’ said. I just wanted to start describing Daybreak. I was really high over this, ever since I got my hands on Daybreak, I’ve already been waiting for the day I can witness the song played live. I know I’ve listened to the live version of it during their 9th anniversary nico nico broadcast last year but hey, I GET TO LISTEN AND WATCH AND ABSORB IT LIVE. crazy la. I know that Daybreak isn’t a song many people go asdfghjkl; over but I’m weird as that, I can’t even find anyone that loves CROSS GAME as much as me. After Daybreak was Blue Planet, wa another classic. When Blue planet was over, I went asdfghjkl; again when I heard the guitar. This guitar intro. DEFINITELY TSUBASA. No one could miss that intro. No one. Being able to listen to Hana(even though I blur blur didn’t know Hana was played), KID, Daybreak being played was already a gift, but when Tsubasa hit the stage, I felt overjoyed. Later on was Senkou. Another one, so much love for this song, but I already heard senkou during their rehearsal so I kinda expected it. Last up was Kaisen Zenya! Another track I like from their SUPERNOVA album.

After Kaisen Zenya ended, Nao threw his pair of drumsticks to the crowd, then the boys went backstage and the crowd started chanting encore! I’ve watched Jrock dvds and I believe the encore chanting part was very fun to experience. VERY FUN, SCARY(because what if the band doesn’t come out?), and TIRING. After quite some time of chanting with several pauses in between, the band took the stage again following by MC. I believe this MC was longer. Also more entertaining. This time,the band finally took notice of our countless efforts of trying to get our banner[s] given to them! Saga came down to take one of our more ‘formal’ banners. They took photo with it and then later on we decided to give Shou our little more ‘weird’ filled with much much more love banner. He took it up on stage and Hiroto wrapped himself and Shou with the banner. It was a priceless sight and I had so much fun watching and laughing. During the MC, the band members talked albeit and took photos of the fans too!

When all that sillyness ended, it was time for 春夏秋冬! I had mixed feelings upon hearing this song. I was super happy hearing this song, even though I’m still young, I just feel super fresh and even young when listening to this song played, yet I know that when this song is being played, it also means that the live is coming to an end. 春夏秋冬 was a song I’ve always always wanted to hear live, and I got it. And the finale is of course, the beautiful name. and that’s it. the live has ended.

but my arisu night is not over yet. Hiroto and Tora started throwing their picks to the fans, Nao threw his drumsticks again and Saga threw his towel hahaha. This scene was so hilarious, I was literally stunned. Wisely caught the towel and split it with Ron and Michelle! Hahahaha, you have to BE THERE, to watch how they shared it to laugh and relate. The guards look at you three like siao please.

After everyone rushed out to queue for the photo taking session exclusive for VIP ticket holders, we took our time la. We even had the time to stop for vending machine. I swear I’ve never gulped down a can of soya bean that fast in my entire 17 years of life. While queuing I kept fanning myself, then check mirror and stuff. I did not appreciate the idea of having a photo session after the live, I mean, SG got to have theirs before the live ma…but then I think the band would be too tired gua. But to have the photo session after the live, wouldn’t the band be TOO TIRED to pose for 180+ fans? Ask me to pose for 180+ people I also behsong please, so I was really happy and felt very very blessed that night.

The photo session happened so quickly I didn’t even know how to react. I was literally shocked for my dear life, how is it possible that I’ve already seen them so close in front of me allowing me to experience their music live just half an hour ago and now I’m like sitting in between with my two bias taking a family portrait hahaha! I had so much to tell them but it was too much, I forgot every single japanese word I know. I can’t even speak gibberish! I was literally mute, and only snapped out of it when Hiroto said ‘Hello!’ ; w ; life complete feel there. After that, I got up, bowed 90 degree and forgot to spare them another glance, said arigato and left. So paiseh, I bet I was in my tomato mood then.

And that is how my arisu night ended *\(^ w ^)/*

Now to give my thanks and more photos…

had to selfie with my ticket before the live.
