Lens review on Rainbow Colors cosmetics lenses - Aurora Ash

DSC_0181

I actually forgot about this. Not going to say too much about this pair of lenses simply summing it up as good for casual wear as the color isn’t that obvious unless flash is involved.

To me, the comfort of this pair of lens was way better than the Vivid Brown ones that I reviewed the other day. As for the color, I’ve already fallen in love with it when I saw Cheesie wearing it though I was albeit disappointed when the color wasn’t that obvious on my eyes. I guess lighting played a trick there as well.

Comparison on the size. In case anyone’s wondering what’s that brown patch, I have no idea either, it’s been there for quite some time now and I’m pretty much sick of editing it away here haha

Nude eyes again

DSC_0239

Obsessive love over makeup, if I can, I would opt to study makeup and only makeup but yet again, I don’t. Ugh, I’ll decide that a little later, I still need to do more research and thinking. Worse come to worst, I’ll just go into Mass comm or business then I’ll figure things out once I reach there.

Until today, I’m still experimenting to find the perfect nude eyes. In which I define as earthy brown and bronze all over one’s lids hah.

Might as well record the whole process on my blog. Just to answer a couple of you, no, I’m /not/ a professional. I don’t know whether or not to call this a tutorial as I don’t consider these photos THAT good. Another thing is that I pretty much go with the flow, in other words, I don’t do theory haha, for all you know, someday I’m going to use lipstick as eyeliner. Ew but well, that’s where brushes come in.

DSC_0111

Bare face that I bear with everyday, applied the shimmery KATE eye shadow base over my lids.

NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Sparkle nude applied at the area highlighted in green then blended out albeit.

using this eyeshadow brush + tissue for almost the entire process (yes tissue, scrap theory)

Using a white/cream color

DSC_0116

Applied it below my brow bone and on the center of my lids. Please excuse bushy brows. Plucking very pain okay.

Using a shimmery brown-bronze color

applied it on the area highlighted in red. Pretty sure you could see that the red at the corner of the eye is more…red. yeah, focus more of the eye shadow on that area to get something like the left eye.

Tightlined my upper lashline with NYX’s slim eye pencil in black brown. Just use any pencil/crayon(I guess?) eyeliner to do the trick. After that, using the same cream color eye shadow from before, apply it at the inner corner of your eyes, bringing it down to the inner half corner of your bottom lash line . Also pat the same color onto the center of your upper lids to even out the brown.

Used K-Palette’s 1 day tattoo eye liner to draw fake cacat lashes on both eyes. Then with NYX’s slim eye pencil in black brown again, lined my outter bottom half lash line following by applying some red eyeshadow below it.

I wanted to draw another double eyelid but I messed up. The effect turned out acceptable I guess? That is, as long as I don’t close my eyes hahaha. Added upper and bottom false lashes too after curling my natural ones. Then I felt the need to stick three rhinestones as well. Lashes are from daiso haha. I’m using false lashes on more of my makeup experiments now because otherwise I’d think spending 30MYR on a lash glue is a waste. Cheapo, I admit but daiso glue doesn’t work that well for me. Other than that, I just really hope to get rid of all the lashes I have.

DSC_0181

Closeup.

didn’t do much with the face, just concealer over all the un-flawless face then NYX round lipstick in snow white on the lips.

Needing more practice and I wonder if any friends out there would like to experience my wobbly hands “beautifying” their face.

k, ciao!

Gonna go back to thinking about my future

Inspired by 3D motion edits on tumblr + lens review

It first started off with me coming home on a typical friday noon thinking ‘I feel like chopping trimming a wig.’ as well as ‘I want to look bishie coughhandsomecough ‘ which resulted to me running through my old unsold and will-never-go-out-in-public-wigs to find a wig that I could cut, trim and restyle. In which I settled for this long blonde one.

I really liked the wig at first, the color is gorgeous and it doesn’t get entirely messy but its just way too thin and long /.\ so in the end I chopped half of it away haha, trimmed the side bangs shorter to hide my cheeks better too.

This isn’t a tutorial post but I’m in my syok sendiri mode now. So please forgive me, it’s currently 5:40AM and yes, I did not just wake up. I’ve been up the whole night.

Y’know what, I’m just gonna make it sound like a tutorial. SOUND LIKE. But a disclaimer, I am no professional in this field but just a random girl that finds makeup being something really fun to put on yet very troublesome to remove.

994418_632617610135823_902218857_n

First, start off by staring at your everyday unglam self infront of the mirror or in my case my phone’s front camera

Put on your wig. Swipe all the fringe to one side and admire your masterpiece. syoksendirimore act handsome act cute act chio whatever. Yes, the mask is necessary.

at this point, I still wanted to do some handsome ikemen bishie makeup look.

laid out everything to purposely take a photo. Don’t ask why I’m using such odd brushes, it’s because these two are the only clean brushes I have. Others are still….very colorfully pigmented…next to me…waiting to take their bath. I didn’t get to use the lip liner and lipstick though ._.

yeah, after placing everything on the desk, I had plans to attempt a female and male makeup look.

My main objective was to try out the KATE eyeshadow base my aunt got me for christmas, wanted to see it pika pika on my eyelids and it really was pika-pika! O u O b

The eyeshadow colors were inspired by 3D motion edits, you know the red X cyan motion edits people had been posting all over tumblr? Cannot picture? Nevermind, closeup is below.

After applying my double-decked false lashes I really don’t see how I can still look handsome in any way so scrap being handsome, I’ll just try to avoid thick lashes next time. Perhaps also a shorter wig.

After you’re done with the makeup and if you’re like me and has no where to go at 9PM at night, just have your selfie-home studio photography session! Don’t let the makeup go to waste.

See how long my false lashes are. www

Then if you’re still bored, take your younger sister’s stuff toy animal to take selfies with you too!

1497557_632509020146682_2015218407_n

Still not satisfied? Take selfies of yourself doing weird scary faces and send em to your friends on whatsapp. ;)

Messy wig is just messy. And yes, my eyes totally filtered out all the strands of gold in my vision.

Wearing GEO X Cheesie’s RainbowColor Contact Lens in Aurora Ash for this eye. Photo taken with flash. Review on this will be up soon!

Basically I’ve first applied KATE’s Eye Shadow base in GD-1 over my lids, patted hues of taupe and brown to my lid topping it with silver. the lighter shade on the inner part of the lid and more of a burgundy color to my outer lid. Then I topped the burgundy color with a combination of cyan / light sky blue / seafoam colors. Taking a taupe mixed with the same burgundy color, I blended it into my outer crease all the way into the middle of my crease. For my outer lower lash line, I simply lined it with red eye shadow. For my upper lid, I’ve tight lined it with NYX’s slim eye pencil in black brown then drew a thin line, ending it with a flick upon my outer lid with K-Palette’s 1 day tattoo liquid liner. As for my lashes, double decked em, half and half. Got them from taobao haha.

For this eye I’m wearing GEO X Cheesie’s RainbowColor contact lenses in Vivid Brown. The steps I used for this eye is exactly the same as the steps I’ve used on my other eye. The only difference would be instead of applying hues of blue on my outer upper lid, I used a red color eye shadow. As for the outer bottom lash line, instead of red eyeshdaow, I’ve used NYX’s Slim eye pencil in Aqua Glitter.

viola. my syok sendiri post is officially owari.

Still disappointed at not being able to achieve the handsome bishie anime look. Nevermind, I’ll try harder in the future!

Ok lens review on the Vivid brown one

DSC_0097

Comfort: 6.5/10 Not sure why but this pair of lenses weren’t that comfortable, either I’ve been straining my eyes too much or it’s the lens. I don’t know since comfort varies according to our eye condition as well as how well we take care of our lenses.
Color: 9/10 Seeing that I didn’t look that scary wearing it with 0 eye makeup, it deserves a 9 for looking natural.
Price: I guess it’s alright? Since the Buy 3 free 1 promo is still going on haha, but credits for my mom as she got these lenses for me on Christmas!

Last but not least, because I had 0 sleep yes I blame coffee and my friend was telling me how much of an orang gila I am (which I admit, I am) hence I posted this very syok sendiri blogpost slash lens review haha! Yes, entertainment, laughter and craziness is intended! And if you did not find it funny, sorry for not being humorous enough.

Comic Fiesta 2013 - Stayxxxx’s media interview

Before I proceed with the Q&A, I apologize beforehand for posting this up so late, but well, school happened. That aside, are you ready to know more about our ikemen Stayxxxx? Are you eager to find out how it was like behind the scenes of Stay’s Heichou photoshoot? Would you like to know what advise Stay has for people that are interested in giving Cosplay a go? Are you a fellow fujoshi that is interested in Stay’s otps and how Stay ships them? Then read on! Yes, it’s a rather long post but I personally think that all the words were needed to describe the interview better. I hope you enjoy reading this fun-filled interview filled with a lot and a lot of laughter as much as I enjoyed interviewing Stay.

——x——

When did you start cosplaying?

Approximately 7-8 years ago.

What made you start cosplaying?

During my schooling years, a senior from the same club told me to act as a side character for a school activity, that’s how I started cosplaying.

Of all the characters you’ve cosplayed in the past, which is a character that you enjoy cosplaying the most?

I don’t have any specific character that I enjoy cosplaying as I love all of them, however recently it would be Shingeki no Kyojin’s Rivaille. It started when I began reading the manga and came across this character, that’s when I told my friends that I like the character and I would like to cosplay him but everyone told me “No way! You can’t! You look nothing like him. You would make Rivaille look very self-centered.” But I liked the character and I really wanted to give it a go, that’s how I resolved to using makeup to create the illusion of Rivaille on myself. Honestly, the first time I’ve done the makeup for my Rivaille cosplay, I was shocked and asked myself ‘who’s this?’ This is because in my opinion, Rivaille is a very handsome character with a beautiful face yet at the same time, weird. It’s like he’s constantly knitting his brows together and his eyes are always sad. He’s a character that isn’t the usual characters that I would cosplay as. But after the first shoot, my friends were shocked and they told me “not bad”.

In your opinion, what are the criteria needed to be a coser?

I think it should start from the love and understanding of the character. To me, Cosplay is a form of doujinshi. Like a doujinka, to express the love for a specific character/series, he/she would draw it out or write fanfictions. Some would even make a movie for it. I think for a cosplayer to show his/her love for the specific character he/she could convey it by cosplaying. This would be the first and most important criterion needed because if one doesn’t love the character enough, he/she wouldn’t be able to understand the character well and without understanding, he/she wouldn’t be able to portray the character well. This is because for appearance wise, for example the looks, costumes etc could be overcome with hard work and techniques while the understanding of the character would be something more individual.

What are your opinions on cosplayers editing their photos on photoshop?

I think it would be best to not use photoshop. It would be best to use photography to manipulate and minimize the flaws. If one really looks different from the character he/she is cosplaying, they could start by using makeup, wig and costume to fix it. If that doesn’t accomplish the final needs, try talking to the photographer to discuss on how the photos could be taken. There are many ways to overcome this factor, and if all fails, that’s the only time I think photoshop should come in. I think that for minor flaws like dark circles and contrast of the photos, it should be fine to rely on photoshop but for major changes I don’t think everyone should rely on photoshop that much as it would also minimize the effort one would put to their cosplay. In other words, for me, Photoshop would be my last option.

After cosplaying for so many years, which character do you think is the most challenging character you’ve ever cosplayed so far?

Rivaille. I’ve already cosplayed Rivaille many times and I think the makeup for him is very complicated. This is because when Rivaille’s brows and pointing down, his eyes are looking up and if this was reality, I think that it’d be really weird. In 2D it might be presented as so but upon bringing it to 3D, it tends to look weird. I know that some people would straight away apply the 2D drawing method to their 3D cosplay makeup as if their face is a canvas, this is like turning a 3D being to a 2D being. For me, when I cosplay, I would find ways to portray a 2D character in 3D like a typical human being instead of turning a 3D being to a 2D character.

Then how long does it take for you to apply your makeup?

It doesn’t take long, for normal cosplays like the one on today (Gauche Suede from Tegami Bachi) would take approximately 20-30 minutes but it’ll take me longer for my Rivaille cosplay makeup.

Most important cosmetic item for you when it comes to cosplaying?

For me it would be an eyebrow pencil. This is because it’s a more universal cosmetic item as it could also double up as an eyeliner.

Do you have any advice to people that are interested in trying out cosplay?

I think for one to cosplay is a much easier task now compared to back then. Let’s say, 3 years ago, wigs and costumes aren’t things that are easily accessible compared to today. Now, there are more shops popping up to cater for cosplayer needs, selling premade costumes and even pre-styled/trimmed wigs for specific characters. I think the process of buying a wig then trimming it to the length and style you need for the character is good but since everyone now would just buy ready styled and trimmed wigs off shops and the internet, it is something rather unfortunate. By getting a wig then trimming it on your own, it would make you more creative.

Which cosplay of yours are you most satisfied with?

I don’t have any character that I’m satisfied with because after each shoot I would look back at the photos and find many flaws that I could’ve improved in. For example, Rivaille, I’ve cosplayed him thrice but some characters I would forget to re-cosplay them and I’ll just put them aside haha.

Below are questions & answers regarding Stay’s OTPs and such, so please click ‘read more’ to continue reading!

Because I myself is secretly a fan of Stay, here are more of Stay’s cosplay photos that are also my personal favorites! Also a disclaimer, all the photos below are taken from Stayxxxx’s facebook page and are used with permission given from Stay ^^ So if you like Stay’s cosplays as well, hurry up and like the facebook page >:)
