Star Cruise to Phuket and Krabi pt2 : Krabi

I don’t know what people are expecting of me from my studies, but hey, guess what? I actually went travelling during my break.

I know. Very yolo. Thank you very much.

Well, I went to Singapore last week and that…would be a much delayed post in the future!

Back on track with my Star Cruise adventure!

Ko Tapu!

Our first stop was Krabi. Overall, I’d say it was a good experience. I’m not sure which shore excursion we chose, but I do remember sitting in the speedboat passing by several islands in different shapes. I personally am not that used to anything outdoor. (i’m sorry that I grew up to be such an unadventurous scared of death teen ok. Super paranoid over small matters, because I know my luck is as bad as dame tsuna’s. )

Basically, after the ship has arrived at Krabi, we got off and took another smaller boat (maybe its a ferry? i don’t know.) to the island. From there, we walked to the tour bus, the bus then brought us to somewhere (memory fail here. hahahaha). Well from there, we took a speed boat to James Bond Island. I cannot remember, the only thing I remember the tour guide saying was ‘zero zero nana’ 007. yeah. Basically the tour was half Japanese & half Malaysian. You get japanese & english translation of the same thing. I think the tour guide used simple everyday japanese words la, cause I pretty much ignored the english tour guide haha.

and well, one of the japanese tour guide (that was in charged for the japanese tourists, not the shore excursion) looked so much like hidekazu ichinose. Well, just pointing it out.

After arriving at Phang Nga Bay (a.k.a James Bond Island), we were free for about half an hour or more? Took photos here and there, makeup melt, silently inner-sobbed fml because of my melting makeup, take more photos, hide from the sun, get back onto the speedboat, head to lunch. I cannot take spicy food, with the addition of a bad sore throat (got it after I went to Krabi, totally holiday spoiler) , I even tried to minimize the amount of fried food I eat so I kinda ate veggie with some other goreng goreng stuff and either it was noodles or white rice haha. Really cannot remember la, but I’m super picky with food. So if you want my most honest comment, no. I did not enjoy lunch. Even though I say that, I will forever remember the saying 吃的是福 I think that’s how you put it. I don’t know, ‘sek dak si fuk’. That’s because I super love food. Like megalove. Food is like, story of my life…and size. Anyways, just enjoy the few photos instead ba!

in the boat to Krabi! No, the japanese tour guide that I said looks like Hidekazu Ichinose is not here. ;_;

I was actually quite angry la, the weather was so hot (but thank kami-sama that it’s hot and not raining) and the bus was parked like a 10-15minute walk away.

I love skies. For your information, katekyo hitman reborn is NOT the reason, ok. But I know, I know, one can relate. ;)

We passed by islands that were shaped like bears, elephants etc. I think this is a dog. If it’s not, I’m sorry. Because half of the time the tour guide told us what a specific island looks like, I was guessing it as something else.

This was super cool. If I’m not mistaken, this should be Koh Pan Yi. Floating village that is like super colourful!

then we arrived at james bond island. I know theres a sign, I’m such a horrible tourist, I don’t know why I skipped it. It’s ok, I saw it with my own eyes, just that, I don’t have physical proof.

The island had a lot of tourists and of course you’ll find a ton of souvenir stores!

Now look at everyone getting creative.

Star Cruise to Phuket and Krabi pt1

This is like major backlog. The trip was in…if I’m not mistaken, March? Yeah. And I’ve only posted albeit of Penang (which are also low quality iphone 4 photos) I’m sorry, editing photos haven’t exactly been something I’m fond of doing lately. Either that or I’d just rather take up a whole list of graphic requests from forums instead haha. (hey, I have a backlog for those requests too! Got too many, didn’t feel like rejecting any either). Well during my March holidays, I’ve already blogged that I went to Penang for a day then took a cruise to Krabi & Phuket then back to Penang for a couple more days right? Here’s my cruise experience!

I’ve already mentioned that I was staying in Glow Hotel, Penang during my trip, so here are some shots of the room I stayed on my first night. Checked into the hotel then we proceeded to touristy activities (mural hunting & attending a cosplay event)

On the next day (Day 2 @ Penang) we headed to Swettenham Pier to board the cruise.

Look who’s playing hide and seek? haha! Personally, I thought the ship looked huge from outside. Though it didn’t take long to get one from the first end to the other end when you’re inside.

I’m sure this would be something like the lobby? Plus there’s also a 24hr(if I’m not mistaken) coffee stand if you ever need any refreshments while enjoying live performances or just chilling with your tablets/books.

This is also where the reception & shore excursion counters are located at.

After boarding the ship, settling down and all, we had a safety practice (is that it?) where we learned how to put on our life jackets, what should we do when any misfortunes happen while you’re on board.

Soon after that, the ship’s welcome party begins at the top deck with dance performances and buffet!

Also, we got to see the sunset (and sunrise for several days haha) One thing I really love is sky photography, it’s like something I’m obsessed with, clouds. I can stare at them all day long.

After dinner, we went to the Stardust Lounge (a gathering place for almost every activity) to catch one of the on board shows.

You know, back in my primary school, there’s a magician that would drop by EVERY children’s day to perform. When you’re in primary 1-4 you’d find it cool, though, don’t you find it odd…when you reach primary 5&6, enjoying the show actually makes you uncool. I didn’t know why I lived with such thoughts, I still thought magic shows were cool..deep down. But you know what, I’ve rethought about it and really, I’ll never be too old to enjoy magic shows. That night while watching this show, I was really having fun, ever since I’ve graduated from my primary school 5 years ago, I’ve never got the chance to watch magic tricks appear live in front of me again. Richard Burr & Josette’s show really brought me some nostalgic feels plus some awestruck moments because obviously the magic performed that night was much better than the ones we got to watch in primary ahaha.

Actually, it’s exam period now and my progress is close to no where. It’s probably just me but I’m definitely taking a break from blogging for about 3 weeks? Each time I take a short absence, I’ll come back to my blog and think ‘why did I typed this way? Oh gosh, my england. What english am I typing?’ oh the joys of being an inexperience blog-writer. So in this upcoming 3 weeks, I’ll focus on my mid year and I guess figure out how to make my blog less cluttered looking.

Penang Day 2 - breakfast at Glow hotel

After staying a night at Glow hotel Penang, here I am on the first floor blogging after breakfast. The stay during the night was alright, I suppose their beds are okay, like your typical nice and soft hotel beds though I just couldn’t really share a bed and not get a backache the next day haha. It’s a personal thing, really. (FYI. I’m talking queen size. Two people.)
I’m not particularly a hawker foodie, though char kuey teow is like my only exception so when breakfast time is here, I actually had high hopes.
(。-_-。)
Let’s say breakfast wasn’t what I’ve expected. My hopes of getting omelets were shattered. T_T ok la, they do have omelets but extra charge. I don’t want to pay ok. So I’ll hope for omelets on tomorrow’s breakfast on the cruise.
Of all the dishes I’ve tried, the pasta was…alright, fried rice too, sausage with some sort of salad dressing was ok, baked beans okay, but their pandan pudding was just, no. Asides from these, they also served yoghurt, cornflakes, toast served with butter, jam, or peanut butter, porridge and fruits. For drinks, tea and coffee, or non-fresh orange juice and mango juice are included in their breakfast, oh fresh milk too—which you could get from the cornflakes counter. Though if you want, additional costs applies for other caffeine beverages like latte, cappuccino, espresso etc or fresh juices like watermelon, orange etc.
If you’d enjoy truffles or tarts, there are also some located next to the toast section, sadly, additional costs applies to the treats. Overall, I would say just don’t get your hopes up for breakfast haha, it’s edible and tastes alright but not the whole wow level.
Ok ciao! Gonna get ready to check out in a moment!
PS breakfast starts at 7.30AM and ends at 10.30 AM.

Penang Day 1

Warning: heavy image content & photo quality might be bad as I’m blogging via mobile on data! I apologize beforehand, I couldn’t estimate the accurate size when blogging on an iphone4!

Sleeping at 1AM the night before then getting up at 5 the next day is very tiring! We started driving at around 6.20AM and arrived at Penang Island approximate 10 in the morning.

In the car!

Yay, checked into the hotel and makeup is done! Ready to start the day with Penang’s ranked no.1 most expensive char kuey teow located at Lorong Selamat.
20140322-205400.jpg
I’m not sure bout you guys but I’m guessing the cost went into the huge prawns?
There were 3 sizes available. Ranging from RM8.50 to RM9.00 then to RM11.00.

Later on we went around Lorong Armenian to check out Penang’s famous murals. And soon later we stopped for drinks at Film Cafe.
20140322-210456.jpg
Similar to most theme cafés, the too have props!

The cafe serves fresh juices with no added sugar and I’m glad that the lady actually told me that their honeydews today aren’t sweet haha. Something I was glad as tasteless honeydew juice always makes me feel cheated heheh. So in the end I got myself carrot juice. I can’t remember the exact cost but if I’m not mistaken it’s around RM9.50-RM11-ish?

So I had some extra time and I caught news that there’s an event at Penang. Since I’m here and two friends of mine are attending it, I thought I should go experience a cosplay event outstation too. Plus, Stay was invited and you could say I was pretty happy that she remembered me haha.

The stage area where games were held.

Me, star star and Lin hung around for an hour or so before we started queuing for Stay’s autograph session. The amount of fans she has in Penang was crazy, probably not as much as CF but still, there were quite a number there. (since I couldn’t see the end of the queue haha) we didn’t wait for long though since we started queuing as soon as we heard the announcement.

As I’ve guessed, DYMO cosplayed as ELR Miku ///

Really happy to see her again www this time as Mikuo!

With Star star.

With Lin!

Til now I feel so stupid running out 4 entrances and still couldn’t find the entrance I came in from. Feeling so paiseh that you two had to follow me and my so call ‘intuition’ hahaha. Was so glad to spend more time with you two this time Q w Q This time no interviews to catch, no CODs to rush hahaha! Feels good being a typical con-goer again in smaller scale events.
Overall I’d say I have a love hate relationship with Cosplay Invasion 3 haha. I saw many new faces today, awesome cosplayers. Didn’t meet anyone new but I got to spend time with two of my tomodachis. I didn’t exactly liked the activities going on but then I got to meet Stay again so pretty much worth it.

Staying at GLOW hotel. Review will be up after I get back home.
After leaving, I went back to chill at the hotel before heading to New Lane opposite of Sunway Hotel for dinner.

Penang har mee (prawn noodles) - RM3.50
The serving wasn’t large but I guess it’s good for the price and foodies that love trying different types of food. The taste was pretty good, and it isn’t very spicy either.

20140322-214704.jpg
“Chee Cheong chook” - RM5.50 was pretty yummy. For someone that doesn’t exactly fancy pork’s spare parts or porridge in general to consider this good, then it’s good.

20140322-215010.jpg
Penang style “Lo bak” - RM5.00. This is just plain win. The sauce tasted good and so was the food.

Since I tried Penang’s most expensive char kuey teow this morning, I told myself that I had to try a cheaper one la. Well I guess it wasn’t as cheap as I’ve expected but still reasonable. This plate of char kuey teow costs RM6 and in my opinion it tasted better compared to the RM9 one I had hahaha. It had less salt and oil so it didn’t make me feel super full even after eating so much.

Japanese cucumber with apple juice tastes great. It was recommended by the lady that took our order and it was a good choice in deed as it was very refreshing to relief ourselves from the oil.

Ending the post with a pic of the grilled chicken wing stall we bought from back to the hotel.

Definitely needing my beauty sleep now as tomorrow will be yet another hectic day where we’ll be boarding a cruise! Bye ;)
