Penang Day 2 - breakfast at Glow hotel

After staying a night at Glow hotel Penang, here I am on the first floor blogging after breakfast. The stay during the night was alright, I suppose their beds are okay, like your typical nice and soft hotel beds though I just couldn’t really share a bed and not get a backache the next day haha. It’s a personal thing, really. (FYI. I’m talking queen size. Two people.)
I’m not particularly a hawker foodie, though char kuey teow is like my only exception so when breakfast time is here, I actually had high hopes.
(。-_-。)
Let’s say breakfast wasn’t what I’ve expected. My hopes of getting omelets were shattered. T_T ok la, they do have omelets but extra charge. I don’t want to pay ok. So I’ll hope for omelets on tomorrow’s breakfast on the cruise.
Of all the dishes I’ve tried, the pasta was…alright, fried rice too, sausage with some sort of salad dressing was ok, baked beans okay, but their pandan pudding was just, no. Asides from these, they also served yoghurt, cornflakes, toast served with butter, jam, or peanut butter, porridge and fruits. For drinks, tea and coffee, or non-fresh orange juice and mango juice are included in their breakfast, oh fresh milk too—which you could get from the cornflakes counter. Though if you want, additional costs applies for other caffeine beverages like latte, cappuccino, espresso etc or fresh juices like watermelon, orange etc.
If you’d enjoy truffles or tarts, there are also some located next to the toast section, sadly, additional costs applies to the treats. Overall, I would say just don’t get your hopes up for breakfast haha, it’s edible and tastes alright but not the whole wow level.
Ok ciao! Gonna get ready to check out in a moment!
PS breakfast starts at 7.30AM and ends at 10.30 AM.

Penang Day 1

Warning: heavy image content & photo quality might be bad as I’m blogging via mobile on data! I apologize beforehand, I couldn’t estimate the accurate size when blogging on an iphone4!

Sleeping at 1AM the night before then getting up at 5 the next day is very tiring! We started driving at around 6.20AM and arrived at Penang Island approximate 10 in the morning.

In the car!

Yay, checked into the hotel and makeup is done! Ready to start the day with Penang’s ranked no.1 most expensive char kuey teow located at Lorong Selamat.
20140322-205400.jpg
I’m not sure bout you guys but I’m guessing the cost went into the huge prawns?
There were 3 sizes available. Ranging from RM8.50 to RM9.00 then to RM11.00.

Later on we went around Lorong Armenian to check out Penang’s famous murals. And soon later we stopped for drinks at Film Cafe.
20140322-210456.jpg
Similar to most theme cafés, the too have props!

The cafe serves fresh juices with no added sugar and I’m glad that the lady actually told me that their honeydews today aren’t sweet haha. Something I was glad as tasteless honeydew juice always makes me feel cheated heheh. So in the end I got myself carrot juice. I can’t remember the exact cost but if I’m not mistaken it’s around RM9.50-RM11-ish?

So I had some extra time and I caught news that there’s an event at Penang. Since I’m here and two friends of mine are attending it, I thought I should go experience a cosplay event outstation too. Plus, Stay was invited and you could say I was pretty happy that she remembered me haha.

The stage area where games were held.

Me, star star and Lin hung around for an hour or so before we started queuing for Stay’s autograph session. The amount of fans she has in Penang was crazy, probably not as much as CF but still, there were quite a number there. (since I couldn’t see the end of the queue haha) we didn’t wait for long though since we started queuing as soon as we heard the announcement.

As I’ve guessed, DYMO cosplayed as ELR Miku ///

Really happy to see her again www this time as Mikuo!

With Star star.

With Lin!

Til now I feel so stupid running out 4 entrances and still couldn’t find the entrance I came in from. Feeling so paiseh that you two had to follow me and my so call ‘intuition’ hahaha. Was so glad to spend more time with you two this time Q w Q This time no interviews to catch, no CODs to rush hahaha! Feels good being a typical con-goer again in smaller scale events.
Overall I’d say I have a love hate relationship with Cosplay Invasion 3 haha. I saw many new faces today, awesome cosplayers. Didn’t meet anyone new but I got to spend time with two of my tomodachis. I didn’t exactly liked the activities going on but then I got to meet Stay again so pretty much worth it.

Staying at GLOW hotel. Review will be up after I get back home.
After leaving, I went back to chill at the hotel before heading to New Lane opposite of Sunway Hotel for dinner.

Penang har mee (prawn noodles) - RM3.50
The serving wasn’t large but I guess it’s good for the price and foodies that love trying different types of food. The taste was pretty good, and it isn’t very spicy either.

20140322-214704.jpg
“Chee Cheong chook” - RM5.50 was pretty yummy. For someone that doesn’t exactly fancy pork’s spare parts or porridge in general to consider this good, then it’s good.

20140322-215010.jpg
Penang style “Lo bak” - RM5.00. This is just plain win. The sauce tasted good and so was the food.

Since I tried Penang’s most expensive char kuey teow this morning, I told myself that I had to try a cheaper one la. Well I guess it wasn’t as cheap as I’ve expected but still reasonable. This plate of char kuey teow costs RM6 and in my opinion it tasted better compared to the RM9 one I had hahaha. It had less salt and oil so it didn’t make me feel super full even after eating so much.

Japanese cucumber with apple juice tastes great. It was recommended by the lady that took our order and it was a good choice in deed as it was very refreshing to relief ourselves from the oil.

Ending the post with a pic of the grilled chicken wing stall we bought from back to the hotel.

Definitely needing my beauty sleep now as tomorrow will be yet another hectic day where we’ll be boarding a cruise! Bye ;)

BH Cosmetics - BH Party Girl palette review

I’ve briefly blogged about my Mysale.my BH Cosmetics haul the other day, now I’ll do a little more in-depth review on my likes and dislikes towards the BH Party Girl palette. —simply because 120 colors is way too big of a hassle to me.

Alright, as the palette’s name has already screamed, it’s a party - wild night life palette so you’re going to expect all the shimmery glittery colors! The palette consists of 40 eye shadow colors ranging from very sheer matte to highly pigmented shimmery colors.

I actually filmed the entire makeup process, too bad, my room’s lighting is a major no no.

So there you go, all 40 colors.

From the swatches, you’ll be able to see that not all the colors are as pigmented as it looks. Most are though quite a number are quite sheer. I’ve also tried to see whether the colors are build-able or not though most of them really can’t be helped.

So if you like wearing more sheer colors just to add that little color to your lids, this would be good for you.

So far, I’m not that happy with this palette as most of the colors that I’m in love with didn’t really turn out visible on my lids, however their browns, bronze, shimmery fuchsia colors are VERY pigmented. Also I’ve noticed that they have quite a variety of shimmery green shadows ranging from very sheer shimmery light green to highly pigmented shimmery dark green shade.

What made me really disappointed would be their shimmery peachy color, it’s probably just me but I find it not pigmented enough as after building it 2-3 times the color just doesn’t show up to the extend I wanted it to.

On the picture above, on the left is a swatch of NYX’s jumbo eye pencil in milk and on the right would be e.l.f cosmetics’ mineral eyeshadow primer. I’ve blended both on my hand to test out whether or not if adding a base would help make the eye shadow colors more vibrant.

At some point, I guess it does help albeit and from the look of it, it shows up better when using the jumbo eye pencil compared to primer.

Whenever I have the time, I’ll just have to use it on experimenting different colors over my eyes.

and to remind myself and to anyone interested on the look above, read on!

First I’ve applied NYX’s Jumbo Eye pencil in milk over my eye lids, blend it then apply a slightly shimmery white shadow over it.

On the area highlighted in pink, I’ve applied this rather opaque light purple shadow.

Taking this shimmery peach shadow, apply it to the area highlighted in purple.

As for the area highlighted in green, I used this super pigmented gold shadow from my 120 colors 2nd edition palette. I know, I cheated, but you can just substitute it with some shimmery light color.

This moth/mint-green color goes onto the pink highlight.

with this brown shadow, I faked a liner. (green highlight)

As for the violet highlight, apply this shimmery electric blue shade.

Lastly, draw a thin black line over your brown line & add a pair of falsies.

Then I went into my vain mode.

Gold obsession

As most of us already know, Mysale is an online shopping site offering various great deals on a daily basis. After missing their BH Cosmetics deal TWICE! I told myself that I just can’t let go of this opportunity. If you have not already, BH Cosmetics is a makeup brand offering affordable yet quality makeup. I’ve first heard of this brand probably two years ago when a friend of mine was using it, I then discarded the thought of getting it since they only ship to the US. Through time I got to know more about the brand through browsing Youtube videos on reviews and tutorials. It was then where I think, wow, those colours are pretty vibrant, I have to get my hands on these shadows to try em out personally. And thanks to Mysale, I was able too ; w ;

Pigmentation.

Yup, that’s what most of their eye shadows are well-known for. If you’re a teal-lover like me, you’d know how amazing it is to afford highly pigmented teal-cyan coloured eye shadows. (and you can certainly get it by purchasing their ‘ Take me to Brazil ‘ palette ) I’ve swatched some of their eye shadows from their 120 Eye shadow colors palette 2nd edition and I’m pretty impressed. Their matte colors are quite pigmented, well most are. Some aren’t. Even their shimmery colours are lovely. /die hard glitter all things shiny shimmery pika pika fan hahaha

best part on the palette? They have approximately 3-4 shimmery gold shadows which I can’t tell much difference between them but I’m just in love with them. (ps. very pigmented gold shadows. much win.)

I had been telling myself that I need a pearl / gold eye shadow for inner eye corners highlighting. Never really got into the mood or found the mental strength to get one haha. Well, guess I got 4 now.

IF I’M FREE. IF. I’ll consider posting up 120 swatches of all the colors and a very in-depth review on all the palettes I bought.

PS. I bought all 5 palettes for RM185 including shipping via Mysale. Not sure bout everyone else’s opinion but I think RM185 for so many colors are quite alright. Though to sum things up, it’s really and individual thing on their preferences.

For the mini testing makeup look I did, I was trying out a new pair of lens. Rainbow Color Contacts’s Ocean Blue.

I have a love hate relationship with this pair of lenses.

I’ll just admit it that I’m not a fan of lenses that would make my iris look bigger. Freaks me out and I’ll just feel super lala.

^ reasons why I love lighter shade lenses. ^

heh. don’t hate on me kay.

well what I do like is probably the part where I could wear this out more…?

who am I kidding. I can definitely wear grey and light blue lenses out.

looks ok like that w/ flash.

^ used gold eyeshadows from the 120 palette on the inner corner then something like a bronze color for the outer upper corner.

I tried a baby pink lipstick at first. I’ve concluded that I can never ever wear light color lipsticks unless I’m trying to fake being a patient for a day.

T_T And do you know sad it feels to see all the beautiful baby pink YSL lipsticks thinking that if you own one, it’ll be a waste that you can’t use it?!

Was at a pharmacy in AEON and guess what I saw at the cashier.

Little twin stars mask.

; w ;

must get.

I’ve always seen beauty gurus on Youtube sticking scotch tape on the side of their eye to get that clean edge, thought I’d give it a go and I salute to whoever that first came up with this.

primed my lids with nyx’s jumbo eye pencil in milk.

Used a light gold shade from my 120 palette.

the sky blue & navy blue are from my Take me to Brazil palette.

lenses are rainbow color contacts in sky blue.

ok ciao! Can’t wait to brace myself for my horrendously poor marks on tomorrow.
