A quick background info. This series of Six Essence Hyaluronic Acid masks is formulated by Dr. Jou Jun Xu. When it comes to Hyaluronic acid formulated facial masks, he is certainly no newbie as he is also the brainchild behind Dr. Morita masks - A brand famous for having Hyaluronic Acid as a key ingredient in a lot of their facial sheet masks.
What inspired Dr. Jou to create this series of Six Essence Hyaluronic Acid masks is that as Dr. Jou age, he realized that his skin needed an extra boost in order to absorb skincare products better. Like many brands over recent years, the reason why Dr. Jou is so focused on Hyaluronic Acid skincare is because the benefits of Hyaluronic Acid includes increasing the absorbency rate of skincare products, increasing your skin's moisture, as well as anti-aging benefits.
After extensive research, Dr. Jou is the first in the world to release a facial sheet mask containing 6 Hyaluronic Acids namely - Sodium Hyaluronate (Macromolecular), Hyaluronate Sodium Hyaluronate (Medium-sized molecules), Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid ((Micromolecular), Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate, C12-13 Alkyl Glyceryl Hydrolyzed Hyaluronate and Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate.
So without any further ado, let's take a look at which mask would suit your skin type as well as some beauty tips I've learned from the sifu himself!
The event was held at a cafe called The Other Half and the emcee of the day was very entertaining! He joked that the reason why they chose this venue was in hopes that DR. JOU's mask would become our other half HAHA!
Currently there are 6 types of masks in DR. JOU's Six Essence Hyaluronic Acid mask series. From left to right: Whitening, luminous, hydra, revitalizing, soothing, and brightening.
The first mask in this series would be their hydra mask which so happen to also be their best seller. No matter what skin type/concerns you have, hydration is something every skin needs so if you're looking for a 'general' face mask, this is the one to go for! Though of course, if you have dry skin, no doubt, I highly recommend this as it consists of squalene extract, vitamin B5, and tremella for a well hydrated skin.
Here's the thing, a patch of skin under my right eye have been pretty dry for quite some time and no moisturizer/mask have been able to help it and surprisingly after two rounds of this mask, my skin's condition improved so much, so I do recommend this to my dry skin kawans! I did manage to somewhat document my 'before and after' using this mask so expect a review on it real soon!
For my full review on this mask, you can read it [ here ]!
The next mask is a whitening mask. Other than Hyaluronic Acid, this mask also combines Squalane extract, tranexamic acid, mulberry white, European dragon bile, and large algae extract to help those with dull skin concerns as these ingredients is supposed to help achieve fairer skin.
This mask is their revitalizing mask(orange). It is suitable for all skin types but recommended for those with extra dry skin concerns. It is advised that if your skin is feeling dehydrated/tired, pamper your skin with this revitalizing mask first then only switch to their hydra mask to maintain the moisture.
In this mask, the ingredients used to re-energize tired skin includes Wine Meal Soy, Luo shen hua, barley, bird's nest, Q10, royal jelly, and platinum particles.
The next mask we have here is the brightening mask(yellow). Not to be confused, the earlier revitalizing mask is in orange packaging, while this brightening one has a yellow packaging instead. This mask is suitable for those with dry skin and dull skin concerns.
In order to help one achieve a brighter more radiant skin, some of the ingredients used in this mask includes Squalene, rose pure dew, salami acid, hypericum, aesculus, witch hazel, and ivy extract.
This one here is their luminous mask and I know what you're thinking. Huh? What is a luminous mask?? So for Dr. Jou's luminous mask, other than the 6 types of Hyaluronic Acid essence that is present in all the masks in this series, some ingredients in this mask also includes Squalene extract, daisy extract, lily extract, licorice extract, and Komu extract to keep your pores cleaned and refined for smoother skin.
For those wondering, this mask is suitable for all skin types however recommended for those with dry skin and sensitive skin.
The final mask in the series would be this soothing mask that I really love! For some reason, when I saw the packaging I instantly knew that this mask would be good for my acne skin kakis! I guessed correctly as their soothing mask is suitable for all skin types, and especially recommended for those with oily skin, sensitive skin, as well as acne concerns. As this is a soothing mask, it is said to be good for sunburned skin too!
Being a soothing mask, it contains ingredients like squalene extract and hamamel extract to calm inflamed skin while giving sensitive skin a soothing boost.

Now that we know which mask is suitable for our skin, do you know the best way to apply your facial sheet mask for the best results?
During the event we were surprised to learn that there is actually a trick when it comes to applying facial sheet masks. The trick is to apply starting from your under eye area. It is not easy, I know, but practice make perfect, and I'm still trying to master this technique too! The theory behind it also makes sense la. People often say that the key areas that shows visible signs of aging are your neck, hands, and under eye area. So naturally even for that extra second, you would want to first pamper your under eye area.
Dr. Jou's masks are drenched in essence so you could also take some of that left over essence and apply that to your neck area as well.
As the demo was going on, Dr. Jou also explained to us why drinking water is good for our skin. This is partly because Hyaluronic Acid exists within our cells and by drinking water, it replenishes the natural Hyaluronic Acid in our body.
After approximately 15-20 minutes, the mask is removed and you would want to gently massage the left over essence into your skin.
After Dr. Jou has shared more about his latest Six Essence Hyaluronic Acid mask series, Venice Min was invited to share her experience using Dr.Jou's Six Essence mask. She mentioned that as a frequent traveler, often times she has to deal with the change of weathers and this would occasionally give her concerns like dry skin. So what she did was she first used Dr.Jou's Six Essence Hyaluronic Acid Revitalizing mask to replenish the moisture that her skin needs and later on switched to the Hydra mask series to maintain the moisture. Out of the two masks she used, she favoured the hydra one over the revitalizing mask.
Last but not least, we all received a cute bento box of goodies from Dr.Jou!
Inside my 'bento' I got DR.JOU's Six Essence Hyaluronic Acid Brightening and Soothing mask. As of now I have yet to try out the brightening mask but I am in love with their soothing mask. A review on their soothing mask will be up hopefully soon and you will know why I love it so much!
They were having a lucky draw at the event and surprisingly my name card got picked so I went home with two more boxes of DR.JOU's hydra mask. hohoho. Review for this mask will be available soon too and I'll link all review postings below! So stay tuned!
